Peter Nykoluk Rowing Scholarship 2009
It is my pleasure as Chair of the Peter Nykoluk Scholarship Selection Committee to announce that applications for the 2009 PETER NYKOLUK ROWING SCHOLARSHIP are now available. Applications deadline is September 14th to the Winnipeg Rowing Club Manager or the Manitoba Rowing Association, 3rd floor 200 Main Street, Wpg, MB R3C 4M2
Peter Nykoluk died on October 12th, 1990 as he came to the aid of his teammates who were involved in an accident that occurred when the University of Manitoba Crew was travelling to a regatta in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A financial award in memory of Peter Nykoluk was established to recognize individuals who are striving for excellence in rowing and whose outstanding contribution to the sport of rowing closely parallel the values of determination, commitment and sportsmanship consistently displayed by Peter. The purpose of the Scholarship is to financially assist athletes to pursue their educational goals while they continue to participate in the sport of rowing.
The Scholarship in the amount of $5,300.00 is administered through the University of Manitoba and may be awarded to one or more successful recipients pursuing their university or college education in Manitoba.
