Claudia Blandford won the U23 Womens Single Sculls title for a 3nd straight year this past Sunday at the Royal Canadian Henley in St. Catherines, Ontario.
She narrowly lost out for the Womens Senior Sculls title as well this past week at Henley finishing in 2nd place. She has spent the past month and a half training at Ridley Graduate Boat Club with coach Nancy Storrs in St. Catherines in preparation for her Canadian Henley races. A few of her most recent achievments to date are gold at Canada Summer Games in the Single Scull, last year in P.E.I., she and the rest of her University of Virginia Crew won the 2010 NCAA Rowing Championship, the first time in Virginia rowing history, she has represented Canada at Junior World Championships and won 2 CanAmMex Gold in the Womens Single Sculls and Womens Quad. She is certainly earning her spot, along with the great Colleen Miller and Janine Hanson to name a few, as one of the top female rowers ever to have come out of Manitoba. Congratulations Claudia!!
