Winnipeg's own Janine Hanson and the rest of the Canadian Womens Eight won the coveted Remenham Challenge Cup at Henley Royal in Henley-on-Thames, England, this past Sunday July 4th, 2010. Royal Henley is the oldest and most famous regatta in the world. Unlike most modern regattas around the globe, Henley races are rowed in a \"head to head\" style of two boats up against one another. The winner advances to the next race while the loser is out. Crews from around the world flock to this event each year. While National Teams are not permitted to race as their Nation, since this is a club event, most of the top National Teams send crews which race under their respective club colors. This year our Canadian Women beat out the heavily favored British crew on their home turf with a winning time of 7:29 over the 2112 meter course.
